Simple to the nth degree and that's not always bad. This is honest advertising because this is a 'nice' short story just right for when you need brain-bleach. If read when you want something deep you will be disappointed. The interesting thing about this is the little girl. I avoid kids in my romances as much as possible but this little lady is a spot-on composite of two or of my students every year.
I do wish we'd gotten to know Milo more...way more. And his mother and the little girl meeting and interacting would have been meaty but alas no.
Maybe this can be reworked and turned into a major work because it has all the makings.
