He Lives in the Pond

Bone Dry - Kim Fielding

Someone said something disparaging about this book and I almost skipped it.Bad ME! Chris and Dylan invite Ery to house sit while they're traveling enter Karl and he is so interesting. He's amazed by everything with childlike excitement yet has a hundreds of years of experience to know the realities of life.

This is were Fielding has me by the short hairs - Unlike other stories featuring supernatural beings who mix with humans and lose whatever it is that makes them special, she never takes that away from him. Wherever the story goes his wings are not clipped and his magic is not taken away. That's what makes Kim Fielding work for me.
