Gosh I Wish I was a Good Writer

Secret Light is a quick peek at life after WWII and how fear and hatred continues damage people's lives. Rafe is man about town, tall, good looking, successful and alone in the world. Officer Ben notices right away after responding to what turns out to be a hate-crime that Rafe is possibly a very special person. What bothered me was one of those 'should have, could have' things. Z. A Maxfield had an interesting foundation in this story. I wanted her to go deeper in the era and tell us more about the police force, Ben's mother, the neighbors, the climate in LA and so on. If she made the choice to set this in the early cold war era there were things that would have made this a major work.
She has the chops...do it!
