Excellent!

Lucifer's Hammer - Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle

First reading 1996:Everyone should have to read this in school. It'd without a doubt make teens love books.

2015: More than 20 years ago I read Lucifer's Hammer and I thought it was the best thing I had ever read. Since then every single big action book I've ever read has been compared to this one. A comet is discovered and everyone is excited to see it pass Earth. The closer it gets the more some people begin to except that it might actually hit us. Basically this is all about before and after. I think for me it works best because it's set back in the 70s and not now before cell phones, computers and iPads. You get an honest view of race relations, how women were coming into their own and how men saw themselves in this wonderful, large, long, well written story. There are quite a few characters in this and they all add an interesting dynamic to the story. Experiencing this from all these different personalities in my opinion was an excellent choice for authors Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle to make this an excellent book. Oddly enough the mailman and the old diabetic are that tickled me pink and I freaked out hoping they would survive. There was violence and death and miracles and surprises and let downs and hey it could possibly be the end of the world so what would you expect.

I feel even more confident in recommending it to anyone and everyone even though the book has got to be more than 30 years old.
